Being an engineering manager is tough, and being a great one is even tougher. That's why in 2022, when I chose to return to the engineering management track after a decade as a technical program manager, I posed a question to myself - do you understand what it takes to be an exceptional engineering manager? Despite spending most of these ten years with engineering teams and their leaders, I wasn't entirely sure was expected from engineering managers and what was not.
I began my research by speaking with experienced engineering leaders, reading books on engineering management, and checking web articles. However, despite all my preparation, I quickly realized after starting my role as an engineering manager that there was much more to learn.
I've decided to share all of my learnings and findings on this website, making them available to anyone looking to advance their career. I hope the information I've compiled will help you in becoming a great engineering manager!
